Torin 581T Magna Caddy Hex Bit Organizer
The Concept
The Magna Caddy uses neodymium magnets to hold hex bits in an organized grid. The idea is great: pop your bits onto the magnetic surface, see them all at a glance, grab the one you need. No more digging through a plastic case or a loose pile of bits in a drawer.
What Works
The base magnets are strong neodymium rare-earth magnets. They hold the organizer to any steel surface firmly. Stick it to a toolbox lid, a workbench leg, or a steel shelf and it stays put. This is the best part of the product.
What Does Not Work
The bit-holding sheet magnets are weak. Individual bits sit on the surface and stay put if the organizer is flat or mounted vertically on a smooth surface. But if you bump it or flip it, bits can fall out. The holding force on each bit is just not strong enough for a portable application.
This is a significant limitation for a tool kit. If the organizer is inside a bag that gets tossed in a truck, you will open it to find bits scattered everywhere. That defeats the entire purpose.
The Verdict
For stationary use on a workbench or inside a toolbox that stays flat, the Magna Caddy works well. The visual organization is genuinely useful. But for a portable kit, the weak bit-holding magnets are a dealbreaker. Neodymium base magnets: good. Bit-holding magnets: weak. Good stationary, risky for transport.
This product would be significantly better with stronger individual magnets and a larger form factor. The concept is right; the execution needs work.
