Who We Are
GoodKit is run by Braden and Erin — a family of four cruising the Caribbean aboard our 2009 Dean 441 catamaran, Yoto, and traveling the country in our RV. We're builders and full-time gear-testers. Everything we write about, we use.
This isn't a content site. It's a notebook. When we install something on Yoto or in the RV, when something breaks, when something works better than expected — that's what gets written here.
The Crew
Braden worked in software for years before turning his attention full-time to boat and RV systems. He runs the Victron + Signal K + Home Assistant stack on Yoto, manages 2,600W of solar, the lithium house bank, Starlink, and a custom CAN-bus monitoring system he built on a Raspberry Pi. When you read a Cerbo GX setup guide here, it's because he's wired one and lived with it.
Erin is the other half of the operation — she handles provisioning, content, and keeps the family running while we cross oceans. The galley reviews, the cooking gear, the family-friendly cruising perspective — that's her voice.
The kids handle morale.
What We Cover
A narrow lane, defended hard:
- Marine electronics — Victron, Furuno, Raymarine, Signal K, NMEA 2000
- Connectivity — Starlink, cellular bonding, marine networking
- Smart automation on 12V — Shelly, Home Assistant, BLE sensors, Mopeka
- RV systems — same systems, different vehicle
- Practical liveaboard gear — fans, fridges, tools that actually survive salt air
We don't cover destinations, fishing reports, or general boating lifestyle. Plenty of other sites do that better.
Our Boat (and RV)
Yoto is a 2009 Dean 441 catamaran, ~44 feet, twin Vetus 42hp diesels, Neil Pryde mainsail, 2,600W solar, Dessalator D100 watermaker, three cabins, induction galley, Starlink, Furuno electronics, and a stack of Victron and Raspberry Pi gear we keep adding to.
When we're not on the water, we travel in our RV — same systems philosophy applied to a different platform, and the source of most of our RV-focused content.

What We Make and Sell
We also run Dupree Products — a marine and RV parts shop where we sell the gear we trust, including our own manufactured valves that have been in production since 1964. When we link to a product on Dupree, it's because we stock it for the same reason we recommend it.
Our Review Policy
- We don't review things we haven't used
- No paid placements
- No vendor-supplied units (yet — if that ever changes, we'll disclose it)
- If something is good, we say so. If it has problems, we tell you. The Wera Joker review and the Magna Caddy review are examples — both are products we wanted to love but couldn't fully recommend.
When we link to a product, some of those links are affiliate links. If you buy through them, we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. We pick what to recommend first; the affiliate decision comes after.
