Best Mail Forwarding Services for Full-Time RVers and Cruisers (2026)

At a glance

SBI is the service we use.

For physical mail while cruising, St. Brendan’s Isle is our firsthand pick. Traveling Mailbox is a digital-focused alternative to compare—not an equivalent long-term test.

Full-time travel does not stop physical mail. You still need a way to receive documents, decide what matters and get originals forwarded when needed.

A mail service can receive and forward mail and may offer scanning. Do not assume its mailing address will satisfy every bank, insurer or government agency’s residential-address requirements.

We have used St. Brendan’s Isle for years while cruising. It is our firsthand recommendation; the other four services are researched alternatives, not four more long-term tests.

Base service and scanning — five services compared
ServiceBase costScanning and extras
St. Brendan’s IsleTravelers $13.99/month; Cruiser $15.99/monthStandard Mail Scan Pro +$7.99/month. Content scans, postage and handling can add to the total.
Escapees$110–$150/year; membership requiredScanning on B/C plans: +$10/month or $100/year. Enrollment, postage and content scans are extra.
Americas MailboxSilver $189.99/year; Titanium Plus from $248.99/year, plus taxTitanium includes exterior scans. Interior scans, $25 setup and postage are separate.
Traveling MailboxBasic $15/month40 envelopes and 35 page scans/month. Forwarding: postage +$2/shipment; other fees may apply.

Our choice: SBI for the reliable forwarding we have experienced ourselves. For a scanning-first setup, compare its add-on total with Traveling Mailbox’s included allowances. Neither choice removes the need to check whether an institution accepts the address.

Mail Forwarding or Virtual Mailbox?

Both receive physical mail and can forward it to you. “Virtual mailbox” usually emphasizes viewing and managing mail online. Check whether the plan includes envelope images, scans of the contents, or both: an envelope scan is not the same as reading the letter. Limits and extra charges matter more than the label.

Why Domicile Matters

Separate choosing a mail service from establishing legal domicile. Ask the relevant agencies and institutions what they require for your situation before changing addresses.

The Five Services Compared

1. St. Brendan's Isle — Our Pick

Based in Green Cove Springs, Florida. SBI lists Travelers Special at $13.99/month and Cruiser Home Port at $15.99/month. Standard Mail Scan Pro adds $7.99/month.

St. Brendan’s Isle specializes in mail forwarding for travelers, including cruisers and RVers. Mail Scan Pro is an add-on for viewing and managing mail online.

What we like:

  • Rock solid reliability — we've used them for years without a single lost piece of mail
  • Florida domicile support is straightforward
  • Staff actually understands the cruising/RV lifestyle
  • Mail scanning works well — they scan the exterior of every piece, and you choose what to open and scan the contents
  • Forwarding is easy — tell them where you are, they ship it

What we don't love:

  • The web interface is dated — it works, but it looks like 2010
  • No mobile app
  • Scanning is an add-on, not included in the base price
  • Not the cheapest option

Best for: cruisers and RVers looking for a specialist forwarding service with a Florida mailing address. It has been reliable for us; confirm address acceptance separately for your own requirements.

Budget example: Travelers Special plus standard Mail Scan Pro is $21.98/month; Cruiser Home Port plus the same add-on is $23.98/month. Those are base-service totals, not an all-in mail bill. Check current plan charges, content-scanning fees, postage, handling and deposits before signing up.

2. Escapees RV Club

Escapees’ personal plans cost $110, $130 or $150 annually. Membership is required. Scanning is optional on categories B and C, at $10/month or $100/year; add postage and other applicable fees.

Escapees is a service to compare if you want an RV-focused mail provider. Confirm the current membership and service terms before treating it as the lowest-cost option.

What's good:

  • Compare the RV-focused support and available address arrangements.
  • Ask how mail is received, scanned and forwarded for the address you choose.

What's not:

  • Include membership, scanning and forwarding charges in the total.
  • Confirm address acceptance with the institutions you need to use it for.

Best for: RV travelers comparing a specialist service. We use SBI ourselves; this is an option to investigate, not our own long-term Escapees test.

3. Americas Mailbox

Based in South Dakota. Americas Mailbox lists Silver at $189.99/year and Titanium Plus from $248.99/year, plus tax. There is a $25 setup fee; postage funding is separate. Titanium Plus includes exterior scans, with interior scans charged separately.

Americas Mailbox is an option to investigate when you need a South Dakota mailing service. A campground stay or mailbox signup alone is not a blanket guarantee of residency, licensing or registration eligibility.

What's good:

  • Ask which mail-scanning features are included in the plan.
  • Check any separate vehicle-service scope, fees and processing times before relying on them.

What's not:

  • Confirm all timing and address requirements directly.
  • We do not have the same firsthand service history here that we have with SBI.

Best for: travelers specifically evaluating a South Dakota mail provider, after checking their own requirements.

4. Traveling Mailbox

Traveling Mailbox’s Basic plan is $15/month for 40 incoming envelopes and 35 scanned pages. Forwarding is postage plus $2 per shipment. Check address-specific charges, overages and storage for your selected plan.

Traveling Mailbox is a digital-mailbox option to compare when scanning and remote management matter most. We use SBI; we have not established an equivalent long-term track record with Traveling Mailbox.

What's good:

  • Plans include envelope and page-scanning allowances.
  • Compare mail volume and page limits against what you actually receive.
  • Check the selected address and forwarding charges before signup.

What's not:

  • Forwarding, storage and overage charges can add to the plan price.
  • A virtual mailbox is not automatically an accepted residential address.

Best for: Remote workers or digital nomads who want a clean digital mailbox experience and don't need domicile services.

5. Anytime Mailbox

Anytime Mailbox offers a choice of mailbox locations. Compare the selected location’s current pricing, scanning, storage and forwarding terms.

Anytime Mailbox connects customers with mailbox locations. Evaluate the specific operator and plan, rather than assuming every location provides the same service.

What's good:

  • Potentially useful when a particular mailing location is important.
  • Compare the local operator’s services and total fees.

What's not:

  • Confirm handling, support, storage and forwarding at the exact location.
  • Ask what happens if the operator closes or you need to change locations.
  • We have not tested it as a replacement for our own mail service.

Best for: someone who needs a particular mailing location and is willing to compare that operator’s plan and service. We have not tested it, so we cannot make a firsthand reliability judgment.

Our Recommendation

We use St. Brendan's Isle and it's GoodKit Approved. It's not the cheapest. The website looks like it was built during the Obama administration. There's no app. But in years of use, they've never lost a piece of mail, the scanning works, the forwarding works, and the staff understands what it means to be unreachable for days at a time on a boat.

If you need a specific state or location, compare the providers that serve it and confirm your requirements before signing up.

If scanning and digital management are the priority, compare Traveling Mailbox’s current plans with SBI’s scanning add-on.

For any provider we have not used, verify the practical details before moving critical mail: how you request originals, how quickly requests are processed, how support handles a missing item, and how you leave the service.

How to Switch

If you already have a mail service and want to switch:

  1. Open the new service and confirm the address and required identification.
  2. Ask both providers how remaining mail will be handled during the transition; do not assume one change-of-address form handles every sender.
  3. Update important senders directly, including banks, insurers and relevant agencies, after checking their address requirements.
  4. Keep an overlap while confirming important mail reaches the new service.
  5. Before closing the old account, confirm its remaining-mail, deposit and cancellation arrangements.

Don't rush it. Missing a piece of mail from your insurance company or the IRS is not something you want to deal with from a marina in the Dominican Republic.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between mail forwarding and a virtual mailbox?

Mail forwarding emphasizes receiving and shipping physical originals; a virtual mailbox emphasizes online viewing and management. Many providers offer both. Compare envelope scans, content scans, forwarding charges and support—not just the name of the service.

Do not assume so. A mailing address and a residential address are not interchangeable for every purpose. Confirm acceptance with your bank, insurer and the relevant government agency before moving critical accounts.

Which state is best for RV or boat domicile?

There is no universal best state. Domicile, licensing, taxes and registration depend on your circumstances and current rules. Get appropriate advice and check agency requirements separately from choosing a mailbox.

Will banks, the DMV, and insurance accept the address?

Ask each institution directly. A provider’s use of a street-address format does not guarantee that a bank, licensing agency or insurer will accept it as a residential address.

How much does a mail forwarding or virtual mailbox service cost?

The comparison above separates base fees from scanning. Add postage, handling, overages, storage, membership and setup costs for your expected mail volume. Annual and monthly prices are not directly comparable until you include the extras.

Can I register a vehicle or boat at the address?

Check the relevant registration agency’s current rules and your eligibility. A mail provider may offer paperwork help, but that does not replace the agency’s requirements.
